After graduation, he worked in Mukachevo in Carpathian Ruthenia (today a part of Ukraine). After 1934, he lived and worked in Košice. He participated in the exhibitions organised by the Society of Carpathian Painters and Sculptors. In 1936 – 1938, he was a member of the Society of Slovak Artists in 1938 – 1945 a member of the Association of Hungarian Fine Artists, where he also took part in exhibitions. His beginnings as a painter were mainly dedicated to landscape painting. In 1929 – 1933 he created a series of impressionist-expressive landscapes, portraits and figural compositions with strong social undertones. Capturing the life of the rural population became an important theme for Bukovinský. An equally important source of inspiration was the urban structure and building of the city of Košice. Many works with this topic were exhibited in plants and developing industrial facilities of the era. Bibliography: Váross, M.: Slovenské výtvarné umenie 1918 – 1945. SVKL Bratislava 1960.
