Némethy Miklós was a Hungarian painter affiliated to the art colony in Baia Mare in Transylvania. His first teacher was Hegus László, the elder of the colony. He was born in 1881 in the town of Gyula. Miklos spent the years 1912 and 1914 in the above-mentioned art colony living and painting. Around 1910, he initiated the establishment of Association of Young Hungarian Artists titled Balaton. With his paintings, he regularly participated in the exhibitions held in the National Salon. His work was influenced by the leading Hungarian masters, such as Vilmos Aba-Novák, Burghardt Rezso, Czóbel Béla, Ferenc Csejtei Joachim, Ferenc Hatvan, Zoltán Klie, and Molnar Pál.
