Životopis

Robert Weigl was a well known Austrian sculptor. He was born in 1851 in Sagor and died in 1902 in Vienna. Weigl studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna together with other leading Austrian sculptors such as Carl Radnitzky, Johann Nepomuk Geiger and Carl Wurzinger. In 1892 – 1898 he was a member of the Vienna House of Arts. Among his most important works, literature often mentions busts and memorials of Beethoven and Schubert. He also created a breast-piece bust of Maria von Ebner – Eschenbach for the chateau of Zdislavice, in the Morava region. The author represents the academizing, realistic type of sculpture portrait.
